The invitation came two days earlier than everyone else's. Only because the sender Diana Lovegood is my favorite acquaintance. So she was sure to make the butler fax mine first so we could get our dresses fitted together.
My name is Charlotte Rebecca and I am sixteen living in New York. Our mansion is three stories high with beautiful ornate trimmings around all the windows and the fireplaces.
Drawings hung around the shop showing all the beautiful dress designs of this season I study them closely as I wait for Diana to finish her fitting. I have chosen a long lavender dress with lace flowers embroider into the waistline and around the top. It is strapless with long, flowing wave-like layers running from the embroider flowers to the floor.
Several hours later we sat in the Coffee House drinking the finest coffee in New York. Bags filled with all the new accessories that go with our dresses and shoes sit at our feet. Most people stare as they walk by, as there aren't many rich that live in this part and even less that visit. But the coffee we just can’t resist — that is the reason most visit these parts, some have even tried to get the owner to move to a decent location offering to sponsor them until they can fend for themselves. All of which have been declined —.
Five days passed without me thinking of the dance once until I saw the dress hung in my wardrobe. Every time I see it I reach out and touch the soft material and finger the delicate items surrounding it.
Excitement wells in my heart as my hair is twisted and tweaked to sit neatly on the top of my head and my maids tighten my corset around me. White powder is fluffed onto my face and a soft pink glow is emerging on my checks.
Finally ready, I stare into my mirror and smile. Taking time to breathe in the cool night air I step out and walk in fan in hand and chest, arms and head adorned with jewels. I must admit I look good. Heads turn as I walk in and Diana slides over amazement plain on her face. Captivated I stare at, Diana her dark curls hanging lose around her sides. Her lime dress resembles mine slightly, she looks beautiful and so do I she tells me and for once I believe her. Abigail Gem walks over next her light blue dress hugs her slim figure and her spouse Asa Field who is dashing and kind was wearing a dark suit. Abigail's light brown hair was swishing around her face as she walks. In her wake was Alice Santiago whose red dress went to half way down her calves. On her feet were the most beautiful shoes making me look almost as tall as me. Jason Reed was walking just slightly behind her showing that an engagement is yet to take place (much to her disappointment).
After greeting everyone Diana and I sat down at a table arranging our skirts to look elegant. After finishing my first drink I search the crowded hall looking for the face I’ve most wanted to see. He was sitting at a table watching the intricate dances we all had to learn as kids.
Johnnan Cappirano is Sexy, he has black hair hanging just over his eyes and an elegant lope. You could call him popular but he would deny it. He lived with his parents who unusually have let him loose to choose his wife-as have mine except husband-Diana and I make our way over to his table. He smiles up at me as we walk over. We have always flirted but tonight there was more. Our flirtsous banter continued as the night went on, even as we were dancing finally as the evening was coming slowly an end his smile grew wide and he pulled me out onto the secluded balcony. He stared down into my eyes and kissed me. As we finished he asked me on a date to dinner tomorrow and I smiled and said yes!
